Who is Byrider and How Did We Become Leaders in the Automotive Franchise Industry?
Anyone thinking of starting a small business by partnering with a franchise brand should think carefully about what industry and brand they might want to become part of. There are plenty of choices out there, and we think the automotive franchise industry is one of the best, not simply because we’re a leader in it but because the facts bear us out; right now, quality used cars like those sold at Byrider dealerships across the country are in very high demand, making a Byrider franchise opportunity something to seriously consider. When you join our brand family, you’ll enjoy some immediate competitive advantages that are due in part to our long history. Here, we’ll take a brief look at our growth over the years and how we fit into a fast-moving market.
Over 30 Years of Service
The Byrider brand goes back to 1979, when Chevy-Cadillac dealership owner, Jim DeVoe, of Marion, Indiana, developed a business model that allowed him to compete in the buy-here-pay-here market. He knew the importance of being able to offer hardworking men and women with less-than-perfect credit the chance to own a car, an undeniable necessity for most. His model’s success led him to develop an educational package that he used to show other car dealers how to succeed in the same manner, which in turn led Jim to his idea of franchising the concept. He did so in 1989, and the Byrider brand was born!
Since then, we’ve had the pleasure of serving hundreds of communities across the country, selling over one million quality used vehicles at prices the everyday consumer can afford. We take pride in our dealerships and the men and women who own them, and we’re committed to redefining an industry that has, at times, suffered a bad name. Byrider is defined by integrity, and our customers can count on a transaction that is honest and transparent. It’s that simple.
A New Addition
Right now is an especially exciting time for our brand as we introduce a new, leaner investment model to the automotive franchise industry — the Byrider Direct program. This new opportunity offers franchisees the chance to focus solely on the retail side (sales and service) while still enjoying strong returns. Because you won’t be handling the financing end (that will be overseen by corporate Byrider finance), Byrider Direct requires a lower capital investment, among numerous other perks.
“We’re offering new investors expanded investment level ranges, to provide multiple options of entry to build their dealership,” says Jack Humbert, VP of Franchise Development. “It’s been an exciting, challenging, rewarding time for Byrider and our family of franchisees!”
Convenience and Confidence
We’re proud of our Byrider Direct program, but it’s the Traditional Byrider model that has made our brand what it is today. It allows franchisees to finance vehicles as they build their portfolios and add value to their dealerships over time. We’re the nation’s leading buy-here-pay-here franchise, in part because of proprietary software that allows risk management and credit underwriting, and that lets our franchisees make vetted decisions on the spot about who to finance. Being able to offer financing not only separates Byrider franchisees from the competition; it also means the chance for people to build or improve credit — and drive off the lot with a car they can depend on!
